Biography
David Schwimmer was born in Queens, New York on 12th November, and was raised in Los Angeles, where both his mother and father are attourneys.

After moving to Los Angeles, David found himself the 'short, pudgy one' at high-school , but enrolling in a school drama class was the turning point for him as he caught the acting bug after appearing in the school's production of West Side Story.

After his graduation from high school, Schwimmer returned to Northwestern, where he received a B.S. degree in speech/theater. Following his graduation in 1988, Schwimmer, along with seven other Northwestern graduates, founded the Lookingglass Theater Company in Chicago. The group is an ensemble of actors, directors, and writers.

Returning to LA, David only managed to get one acting job in six months, so he returned to the theatre company in Chicago, where he remained for a further two years.

In 1993, Schwimmer made his debut as a television-series regular on the comedy "Monty." He had recurring roles in a few other TV series. He also hosted Montreal's "13th Annual Just For Laughs Festival."

Schwimmer's next movie, Dogwater, in which he stars and directs will show us how well he is on camera and also behind the camera.

Marta Kauffman and David Crane, the creators of 'Friends', remembered David from a previous audition, and went about creating the character called 'Ross' based on the voice that they had remembered. David went on to be the only cast member of 'Friends' who was directly offered the role without auditioning.

David writes, and play several sports.
