Ross is Monica's older brother who works at the museum looking after dinosaur bones and similar stuff.
    He has so far been the only male member of the gang to have been married, however his wife, Carol, announced she was a lesbian and left him. She later gave birth to their son, Ben, and married her lesbian lover, Susan.
    Ross has had a crush on Rachel since high school. Rachel only found out about this when Ross was in China, then was shattered to find he'd returned with a new girlfriend, Julie.
    Once Ross had found out that Rachel had a thing about him too, they finally got together. He nearly threw it all away when she discovered the list Chandler suggested he make of both Rachel and Julie's good and bad points to help him choose between them.
    Ross's relationship with Rachel seemed to be going fine until Rachel made friends with Mark who managed to get her a job at Bloomindales. Ross became jealous, convinced that Rachel and Mark were being a little too friendly, and this led to Rachel insisting that they took a 'break'.
    During the break, Ross managed to have a one-nighter with Chloe - the Xerox girl - which of course Rachel got to hear about.
    Despite his best efforts to apologise, Rachel continued to give Ross the cold-shoulder. Phoebe subsequently matched him up with the once bald Bonnie, which in turn made Rachel jealous enough to convince Bonnie to shave her head again.
